Before placing an order, I'm often asked about the difference between the paper finishes I offer. It's a legitimate question: the choice of paper affects the final look as much as good or bad lighting. Here's a short guide to help you choose.
SoftTouch Matte — the soft, glare-free finish
This is the finish I use for the 30×45 cm format. The paper has a soft, almost velvety feel, and most importantly: no glare, even in bright light. It's the ideal option for a south-facing living room, a bedroom, or any wall that receives a lot of natural light during the day. The colors remain true and deep, never catching the light — true visual comfort for everyday life.
Art Line Smooth — for striking contrasts
For the 50×70 cm format, I favor Art Line Smooth. The finish is smoother, with more pronounced contrasts — particularly suited to my sea and surf photos, where the details of the foam and waves gain relief. This finish adds character to a large room: an entrance, a hallway, or a living room where you can step back a bit to appreciate the details.
What about those who prefer a wooden frame or Dibond?
For some photos, I also offer a Dibond version with a solid pine frame that I assemble myself. The look is more raw, more contemporary — to be reserved for photos that need that extra presence on a wall.
How to choose?
In summary: SoftTouch Matte if your wall receives a lot of direct light or if you're looking for a soft, subdued atmosphere. Art Line Smooth if you want a more impactful look, with relief in the contrasts — this is, for example, what I recommend for a stormy sea photo, like that of a surfer tackling waves in Pornichet.
When in doubt, don't hesitate to ask me directly before ordering: I know each photo and can guide you according to the ambiance you're looking for in your home.
